This week’s Lots O’ Stuff was delayed by the holiday and is actually more A Little Stuff.
Anyway, here’s a few tidbits about some area graduates:
Jackson County Central graduate Evan Paplow, a freshman at Iowa Central Community College, was a scoring runner for the Tritons at the Iowa Hawkeye Invitational at Ashton Cross Country Course in Coralville. There were a pair of two-year schools and three NCAA Division I schools in the five-team field.
Paplow was fifth for Iowa Central and 46th overall out of 63 runners with a 6K time of 20:42.
JCC graduate Alicia Brandt is a 6-foot middle blocker with the Waldorf University volleyball team that went 3-1 at the William Penn tournament in Oskaloosa and is now 6-3. She had eight blocks and five kills in a 3-2 win over Culver-Stockton (Mo.), two blocks and four kills in a 3-1 win over Graceland, four blocks and six kills in a 3-0 win over St. Francis (Ill.) and two blocks and one kill in a 3-2 loss to William Penn.
Waldorf hosts Dakota Wesleyan Wednesday in Forest City. DWU, coached by Heron Lake-Okabena-Lakefield graduate Lindsay (Voss) Wilber, has a 4-5 record.
Jackson County Central grad Emma Haren is a freshman outside hitter at Morningside, which was 3-1 at the Siouxland Volleyball Tournament in North Sioux City, S.D. and is now 11-2. She had 15 kills in the four matches, three in a 3-0 loss to No. 9 Jamestown, five in a 3-0 win over Cottey (Mo.), two in a 3-0 win over Mayville State and five in a 3-0 win over York (Neb.).
The Mustangs open Great Plains Athletic Conference play at Dordt Wednesday.
Alaina Wolff, as JCC graduate, is a 5-6 defensive specialist at South Dakota, which opened its season with a pair of 3-0 wins in a tournament hosted by Air Force, beating Fordham and the host Falcons.
Wolff had eight digs, two set assists and an ace serve vs. Fordham and six digs and one assist vs. Air Force. The Coyotes play three matches at a tourney hosted by Northern Kentucky, facing No. 6 Louisville, the host Norse and RV Missouri.
