In last week’s edition of Lots O’ Stuff we told you about four current or former members of the Jackson Bulls that were in Florida for the annual Roy Hobbs World Series.
Roy Hobbs was the character in the book, “The Natural,” by Bernard Malmud, that was written in 1952, and turned into a movie in 1984 with Robert Redford playing the role of Roy Hobbs.
Blaise Jacobsen, Andy Wolf, Pat Boggess and Tom Hady played with RusStar, a team from the Russian Baseball Federation based in Moscow.
RusStar played nine games in seven days and won the AA Division of the 35-over division. It’s the second time the team has won a World Series title.
Once it reached the AA bracket, RusStar defeated Chi-Sox 4-0, Tennessee White Lightnin’ 4-2, the FM Lumberjacks 7-6 and the Cincinnati Colt .45s 9-7.
Jacobsen, Wolf and Boggess are returning home, but Hady stayed in Florida to play in the 45-over division for the Minnesota Diamond.
We’ll try to get some more information on the tournament sometime soon.
