In this first installment of Lots O’ Stuff for 2023 we talk about the Jackson County Central boys basketball team, all-state cheerleaders from JCC and have some college wrestling news.
JCC boys basketball
Weather permitting, the Jackson County Central boys basketball team will have three consecutive weekends in which it plays on Friday and Saturday.
On the first of those three weekends this past Friday and Saturday in Marshall the Huskies defeated Canby 76-51 and Section 3AA South Sub-Section rival Montevideo 69-60.
Those wins give JCC a record of 5-1, having won five straight after opening the season with a 67-65 loss to Blue Earth Area, which has a 7-0 record.
After Monday’s scheduled game vs. Southwest Minnesota Christian in Edgerton was postponed, Coach Alex Hein’s team will turn its attention toward hosting another sub-section opponent on Friday when Redwood Valley is due to visit.
The Cardinals are 4-4, having won their first four before losing four in a row. Redwood is not scheduled to play before visiting Jackson.
JCC then has two straight Big South Conference Medium School Division games starting with a quick turnaround by traveling to Waseca for a scheduled 2:30 p.m. start Wednesday. The Bluejays are 6-0 with games scheduled Tuesday vs. Medford and Friday at New Ulm prior to the game vs. the Huskies.
The Huskies then have six days (unless a makeup game is tossed in there) before another back-to-back Jan. 13-14.
That Friday, JCC plays at Fairmont in a matchup of BSC Medium School Division and sub-section foes. That group of Cardinals currently is 1-4.
The Huskies will then get up early the next morning for a trip to Minneapolis and a nonconference game against Iowa opponent Sergeant Bluff-Luton.
The Warriors have a 4-3 record with their next game scheduled Tuesday at Dakota Valley. SBL, playing 32-minute games, is scoring 49.3 points per game while allowing 45.3.
Jackson County Central, playing 36-minute games, is outscoring its foes 75.0-65.5.

New to Lots O’ Stuff in 2023. Assuming I remember, something offbeat to close out each edition.
And now it’s time for Mike Leach with the weather:
