Here’s probably the shortest edition of Lots O’ Stuff ever.
Jackson County Central graduate Sadie Voss, a 5-foot-10 sophomore outside hitter with the University of Sioux Falls volleyball team, has picked up a pair of awards in the past few days.
She was named to the all-tournament team at the Maverick Fall Classic in Grand Junction, Colo. over the weekend, and was also named USF's Female Athlete of the Week.
At the tournament, she recorded 54 kills and 37 digs as the Cougars went 3-1.
Voss, who was the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference Freshman of the Year last year, has 387 kills and 388 digs in 129 sets.
Sioux Falls has a 4-4 record. The Cougars open NSIC play at Winona State Thursday and host Southwest Minnesota State Saturday.
Another JCC grad, Alaina Wolff, is a 5-6 junior libero at South Dakota.
She had 41 digs in three matches at the South Dakota Classic, including 18 vs. Drake and 17 vs. South Florida. Wolff also had 18 set assists.
The Coyotes (3-5) play three matches at the Green Bay Invitational, facing the host Phoenix Thursday, Illinois State Friday and Central Michigan Saturday.
Jackson County Central graduate Will Freking, a 6-foot-1, 240-pound sophomore, is starting at defensive end for Concordia College. He has one tackle and a quarterback hurry for the 1-1 Cobbers.
Concordia is at St. Scholastica this Saturday.
Sisters Bergen Senf and Solveig Senf, both Fairmont graduates, are on the women’s golf team at St. Olaf College.
Bergen, a senior, placed third to lead the Oles to a sixth-place finish at the Georgiani Invite at Eau Claire Golf and Country Club.
She recorded the seventh top-five finish of her career with a two-day total of 159 (+15). Bergen had rounds of 79 and 80 as she was nine shots off the pace of individual medalist Emily Renner of the College of Saint Benedict.
Solveig, a first year player, had St. Olaf's third-best score of the weekend as she tied for 36th with a 178 (+34).
The Oles are at the Division III Classic Saturday and Sunday at Emerald Greens Golf Course in Hastings.
