Three Martin County West graduates wrestled for Augustana University at the NCAA Super Region V tournament in Aberdeen Saturday and one was able to extend his season another two weeks and will compete in the national tournament.
Sophomore Jaxson Rohman will make his second trip to the NCAA Division II National Championships after placing second at 125 pounds.
Ater a bye, Rohman won by fall in 2:47 over Upper Iowa's Colby Lopez. In the semifinals, Rohman was a 9-6 winner over Jaden Verhagen of the University of Mary.
Shane Corrigan of Wisconsin-Parkside was an 8-5 winner over Rohman in the championship match.
The other two MCW grads and former Martin County Red Bulls placed fifth at their weight.
Connor Simmonds was fifth at 149 pounds and Miles Fitzgerald fifth at 157. Both went 2-2 in the tournament.
Simmonds end his season with a 14-11 record and Fitzgerald finishes 19-14.
Augustana was second in the team standings. St. Cloud State was first with 128.5 points and the Vikings were next with 106 points.
Rohman (15-5) will wrestle in the NCAA DII Championships March 10-11 in Cedar Rapids.
Jackson County Central graduate Keegan Moore, a senior at Oklahoma, is the No. 6 seed for the Big 12 Wrestling Championships Saturday and Sunday in Tulsa. The top four at that weight advance to the NCAA tournament March 16-18, also in Tulsa.
Fairmont graduate Jacob Rahn, a sophomore at Iowa Lakes Community College, will compete in the NJCAA National Championships that start Friday in Council Bluffs. He’ll meet Devon Dawson of Pratt in the first round.
Martin County West grad will wrestle as Katie Lange will compete in the National Collegiate Women’s Wrestling Coaches Association National Championships.
A sophomore at Augsburg University, Lange will wrestle at 143 pounds.
She’ll have a first-round bye and then will wrestle either Zoe Gress of East Stroudsburg University or Skyelar Smith of Mount Olive.
MCW grad Alyssa Williamson has seen her career with the Hamline University women’s basketball program come to an end.
The Pipers opened the MIAC tournament with a 76-64 home win over St. Olaf with Williamson posting eight points, six rebounds, four assists and two steals. In the semifinals Hamline lost 74-67 to Concordia College in Moorhead with Alyssa totaling five points and two rebounds.
Also, Williamson earned a spot on the College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District Women's Basketball Team. To be nominated, a student-athlete must be a starter or important reserve with at least a 3.50 cumulative grade point average (4.0 scale).
A Biology major, Williamson carries a 3.959 GPA.
Fairmont graduate Alli Lardy finished her indoor track and field career for North Dakota at the Summit League Indoor Championships in Vermillion.
Lardy placed fourth in the shot put (46-10 ¼) and seventh in the weight throw (60-3). The Fighting Hawks were fourth in the team standings.
Fairmont grad Sabrina Segar, a sophomore at Minnesota-Duluth, competed in two events at the NSIC Championships in Mankato. She was 19th in shot put (38-3 ½) and 20th in pole vault (9-81/2).
Another Fairmont graduate, Ellie Hernes, a freshman at Bethel, placed in three events at the MIAC meet at Macalaster, including a first-place finish in the triple jump (38-4 ¾).
Hernes was also fourth in the long jump (17-1/2) and sixth in the 60-meter hurdles for the Royals, who won the team title.
In the MIAC men’s meet, Fairmont grad Wyatt Quiring, a senior at Gustavus, was on the Gusties’ third-place 4x400-meter team (3:27.37), the fourth-place 4x200 team (1:30.94), sixth in the 200 meters (22.62) and seventh in the 400 meters (50.26).
And….how about one more Fairmont grad?
Conner Tordsen will compete in two events at the NAIA Indoor Championships in Brookings this weekend.
Tordsen is seeded fourth with in the weight throw in his second straight appearance in the national indoor meet in that event, and he’s seeded 16th in the shot put.

JCC graduate Gavin Jacobsen is a sophomore pitcher with the Bethany Lutheran baseball team, which was picked to finish first in the conference this spring in the UMAC preseason coaches poll.
The Vikings drew 45 points in the poll, with UW-Superior second with 37 points. Bethany finished 19-15 last year including 15-6 in conference play.
Bethany will open its season Sunday in Tucson, Ariz.
