Track and field
Jackson County Central graduate Jessica Christoffer had two PRs while competing with the South Dakota State women’s track and field team at the Bryan Clay Invitational in Azusa, Calif.
She had a PR of 4:25.10 in the 1500 meters that is the fifth-best mark all-time at SDSU, placing 72nd out of 134 entries.
Also, she had a PR of 2:10.51 in the 800 meters, placing 58th out of 160 runners.

Fairmont grad Ali Lardy of North Dakota also competed in Azusa, placing 21st of 48 in the shot put with an effort of 42-6 ¾.
Another Fairmont graduate, Conner Tordsen of Dakota State, had quite the birthday celebration at the Bethel College Invitational in North Newton, Kan.
Tordsen set a school record in the hammer throw, placing second with a throw of 200- ½. That puts him in the NAIA's top five marks this season.

He was also second in the discus throw (164-11) and had a season-best effort of 47-1 to finish fifth in the shot put for the Trojans.
Fairmont graduate Sabrina Segar placed in two events for Minnesota-Duluth at the Jim Duncan Invitational at Drake University in Des Moines. She placed fifth in the pole vault (9-4 ¼) and sixth in the shot put (34-11 ¼).
Martin County West graduate Jake Lewis competed in the 1500 meters for Iowa Central in the University of Central Missouri in Warrensburg. He had a time of 4:34.7.
Baseball
Truman native Derek Shoen tied the single-season home run record with his 12th round tripper for the University of Mary vs. Minnesota-Duluth Saturday at Wayne, Neb. He tied a mark set in 1998.
Softball
JCC graduate Aba Turner scored a run for North Dakota State in a 7-0 win over Western Illinois in a game played in Omaha. She also had a pinch-running appearance in another game for the Bison.
Cheerleading
Jackson County Central graduate Haley Tvinnereim earned three team awards this season as voted on by her teammates on the South Dakota State cheerleading team.
Tvinnereim was named winner of the Leadership Award, SDSU Spirit Award and also Most Dedicated.
Former Jackson County Central coach and teacher Pat Frank, now head baseball coach at United South Central, will be honored later this month.
On April 29, the baseball field in Wells will be dedicated as Pat Frank Field at Thompson Park. The Rebels are scheduled to play St. Clair that day.
The Facebook page for the USC Baseball/Softball Association said that Frank is being honored for his commitment to the USC community baseball programs, along with the time he puts into taking care of the field.
