Tim Kirk
A Celebration of Life service for 57-year-old Tim Kirk will be held at 4 p.m. on Saturday at Mountain Lake High School with Pastor Mike Emmert officiating.
According to his obituary, Kirk passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family on Saturday, Jan. 17 at his home after a courageous battle with gallbladder cancer.
There will be no visitation prior to the service. Those attending are asked to please plan to arrive before 4 p.m. I had only a handful of interactions with Tim through the years, but I get the feeling being on time was a big deal to him.
Following the service, there will be a reception at Windom Community Center.
Tim was born on March 1, 1968, in Mountain Lake. He married Sheila Fast in 1991, and together they had three children. They had three grandchildren.

Kirk coached football, baseball, and basketball for more than 25 years and taught at Mountain Lake Public School for 25 years.
Tim led the Wolverine to the state tournament six times, winning nine-man championship in 2019. He had a high school coaching record of 144-97, a .598 percentage.
He also coached the Mountain Lake Laker amateur football team to four league championships in five years.
You can find the complete obituary on the Sinn Family Celebration of Life Center website.

Fun Fact
Bill Mosienko of the Chicago Black Hawks holds the record for the fastest hat trick in NHL history as he scored three goals in just 21 seconds against the New York Rangers on March 23, 1952. Chicago won the game 7-6.
BTW, Chicago’s team was known as the Black Hawks from 1927-1986. They’ve been the Blackhawks since.
A song that I had not heard in a long time, “Turning Japanese” by The Vapors randomly played on Pandora one day last week.
The song was a hit in 1980, reaching No. 36 in the U.S., No. 3 in the UK and No. 1 in Australia.
The song was often misinterpreted according to the group, which said it was about youthful angst.
