First item on the agenda for this edition of Lots O’Stuff is to clear up some wrestling information that is a couple of weeks old.
I had planned on writing about the first Jackson County Central wrestling team to win a state title on the 25th anniversary. And then some things happened and that never came to be.
That JCC team won the Class 2A dual meet title at Target Center. Rather than let the little work I had done go to waste, I’ll present it here.
First, here are the dual meet results for the Huskies in that state tournament. In those days, one dual was wrestled each day of the state tourney rather than the whole team event being held in one day.

Voss rated second
Jackson County Central sophomore Roman Voss continues to be listed No. 2 in Prep Redzone’s rankings of Minnesota high school football players from the Class of 2026.
Voss is listed as an ‘athlete’ for his position.
Here’s what Prep Redzone has to say about Voss:
Voss exhibits his skills tremendously on both sides of the ball as a quarterback and a defensive back. Notably, his standout attribute lies in his loose hips, affording him exceptional agility to effortlessly flip and turn in the open field, a crucial asset in keeping pace with receivers. Voss’ knack for taking precise angles when breaking on the ball shows a keen football IQ, complemented by great timing in his breaks, allowing him to disrupt passes and attack the ball in mid-air effectively. Additionally, Voss’ breakaway speed, especially considering his size, is a testament to his athleticism and makes him a threat on both sides of the ball. His physical toughness as a runner and his size, which makes him difficult to tackle, further solidify his impact on the game.
Howie Johnson, an offensive lineman from Forest Lake, is the top-ranked player in the state for the Class of 2026.
Voss will be attending the Bauers Elite Recruiting Combine in Sioux Falls on May 5.
Coaches from Division I, Division II and NAIA will be in attendance consisting of programs from South Dakota, North Dakota. Minnesota, Iowa and Nebraska.
Rubitschung swims at nationals
Jackson County Central graduate Caleb Rubitschung concluded his career at Iowa Lakes Community College by competing in the NJCAA Swimming and Diving Championships in Fort Pierce, Fla.
He competed in the 100 freestyle, 100 breaststroke and 200 freestyle.
Rubitschung will continue his swimming career at Midland University in Fremont, Neb.
Anderson coaches at Peru State
JCC grad Brody Anderson recently completed his second season as graduate assistant coach with the Peru (Neb.) State men’s basketball team.
The Bobcats concluded their season at the NAIA tournament with an 83-65 loss to Oklahoma Wesleyan on Friday. They were 20-12 overall.
Peru State had been the fifth seed for the Heart of America Conference tournament after finishing fifth in the 13-team league with a 13-11 record.
The Bobcats won the conference tournament by winning three straight games on the road, beating No. 4 Central Methodist (Mo.) 76-72, No. 1 MidAmerican Nazarene (Kan.) 71-67 and No. 2 Baker (Kan.) 63-59.
JHS grad named superintendent

He has been the 7-12 principal at St. Clair for 18 years. Bosshart will start his new position on July 1.

Full disclosure for the traditional ending segment of our Lots O’ Stuff newsletters:
I’ve done a horrible job of updating my list of used ‘Something Completely Different’ pieces so I have given up and started all over. That will explain what happened if I use one I have used recently.
We’ll start getting back on track with William Shatner’s spoken-word rendition of Elton John’s “Rocket Man” at the 1978 Saturn Awards.
Shatner was asked to do the rendition at the awards show, which wasn’t being broadcast, by its producers for the entertainment of the audience.
Years later, the legendary Captain Kirk of ‘Star Trek’ fame said he was just kidding around with his performance, believing that the performance was just for attendees. He didn’t know it was being recorded and would be released.
Here is that performance:
Seth MacFarlane and Family Guy paid tribute to Shatner’s performance:
