This week there's volleyball, football, cross country and soccer news.

Volleyball
Jackson County Central graduate Megan Gallagher, a 5-foot-6 freshman setter at Bethany Lutheran College, had a couple of big nights for the Vikings as the Vikings played at home for the first time this weekend.
On Friday, she had a career-best 37 assists and 12 digs in a 3-1 loss to Buena Vista. Gallagher followed that up Saturday with 29 assists and five digs in a 3-2 loss to Macalaster.
Bethany opens Upper Midwest Athletic Conference play at home Tuesday vs. Martin Luther.
Martin County West graduate Alyssa Taylor is an assistant coach at Gustavus. The Gusties went 3-1 at the Wisconsin-Eau Claire tournament and are 11-2.
Gustavus opens its MIAC schedule at home Tuesday vs. Macalaster.
JCC grad Alaina Wolff is a 5-6 freshman libero for Division II fifth-ranked Wayne State.
On Friday she had 12 digs in a 3-1 win at No. 16 Minnesota-Duluth. Alaina also had two straight ace serves to clinch the first set 28-26 after WSC had trailed 26-25.
Wolff had 17 digs Saturday in a 3-1 loss at No. 23 St. Cloud State.
The Wildcats, 7-2 overall and 1-1 in the NSIC, play their first home match Tuesday vs. the University of Sioux Falls.
JCC graduate Michelle Aggen is an assistant coach at Augustana University.
The Vikings are 6-4 after splitting on the road to open their NSIC schedule, losing 3-2 at St. Cloud State Friday and winning at Minnesota-Duluth Saturday.
Augustana is at Southwest Minnesota State Tuesday.
JCC grad Megan Bezdicek is a volunteer assistant coach at Minnesota State.
The Mavericks after 7-3 after weekend wins over University of Mary and Minot State. MSU hosts Winona State Tuesday.
Jackson County Central graduate Molly Brinkman is a 5-4 senior defensive specialist at Mount Marty College.
On Tuesday, she had 12 digs in a 3-1 win over York College. Our research has indicated that the school was not named after Rafe York, who coached Molly in basketball at JCC.
Wednesday, she recorded seven digs in a loss to College of Saint Mary and then on Friday she has 14 digs in a 3-1 loss at Presentation College.
The Lancers (6-8) are at Morningside Wednesday.
Heron Lake-Okabena-Lakefield graduate Lindsey Wilber is the head coach at Dakota Wesleyan. The unranked Tigers are 13-1 after wins this week over NAIA No. 9 Northwestern, York and Morningside.
DWU plays Dordt College Tuesday at Sioux Center.
Football
JCC grad Nico Feroni (6-0, 190) is a junior linebacker at Dakota State. He one tackle and two assists for the Trojans in a 40-13 win over Presentation College.
Fairmont graduate Connor Tordsen (6-4, 245) is a senior defensive end at DSU. He had three solo and two assists including a stop for a seven-yard loss on the first play of the game.
Dakota State (2-1) hosts Mayville State next Saturday.
Cross country
Martin County West graduate Jake Lewis, a freshman at Iowa Central Community College, placed 145th out of 215 finishers with an 8K time of 28:44.6 Saturday at the Greeno-Dirksen Invitational hosted by Nebraska Wesleyan in Lincoln.
The Tritons won the team title.
Soccer
Three Fairmont grads are on the women's soccer team at Bethany Lutheran College.
Lexi Kaufman is 5-5 sophomore who started at midfielder and had one shot for the Vikings in a 1-0 overtime loss at Wisconsin-River Falls Saturday.
McKayla Chambers, a 5-8 sophomore, started at defender and Mikayla Stradtman is 5-6 senior defender for Bethany, which has a 3-2 record.
Bethany hosts Faith Baptist Tuesday.
Also, Fairmont graduate Brooklyn Meyer is a 5-8 midfielder for Hamline. She's played in four matches for the Pipers, who are 3-2 after a 3-0 loss at St. Olaf Saturday.
