If you can’t make that tournament or if you can and want to support another program, the Flat Earth Wrestling Club will be holding its annual tournament Saturday, Aug. 6, also at Jackson Golf Club.
We’ve had info on that in a previous LOS and will send it out again in the future.
Thorn camp
A total of 10 Flat Earth Club wrestlers attended a Thorn Wrestling Camp youth session in Odin last week and one of the counselors was a familiar face.
Jackson County Central junior Nolan Ambrose, a two-time state high school champion was among those helping David Thorn conduct the three-day camp.
Next week, Ambrose and a number of other local wrestlers will head to Fargo for the Junior and Cadet National Championships.
Look for more about that in a future newsletter

Three area graduates have earned Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Academic All-Conference honors.
In order to qualify, student-athletes must be sophomores, juniors, or seniors by academic standards with a minimum cumulative grade-point average (GPA) of 3.5 on a 4.0 scale.
One Martin County West grad was honored. Alyssa Williamson, a junior at Hamline, made the all-academic women’s basketball team.
Two Fairmont graduates also earned honors, senior Iliana Ramon of Gustavus in women’s track and field and sophomore Bergen Senf of St. Olaf in women’s golf.
Dunker wins 200th
Bill Dunker, a 1997 Jackson High School graduate and former Jackson Bull, recorded his 200th career amateur baseball pitching win on Sunday.
He is now a manager-player for the Veseli Warriors. Dunker has also played for Eagle Lake and St. Patrick during his career, which started with three years and three state tournament appearances for Jackson from 1997-1999.
Dunker started and did not allow a hit in five shutout innings as Veseli defeated the Shakopee Coyotes 8-1 at Joe Schleper Stadium. He walked four and struck out six.
