Martin County West is seeded third for the 15-team Section 2A softball tournament that starts Tuesday with seven first-round games at the sites of the higher-seeded team.
That means the Mavericks, 17-3, will host 14th-seeded Minnesota Valley Lutheran (3-17) at 5 p.m. at the Fox Lake Area Sports Complex. The first round is single elimination.
The teams met on April 12 in New Ulm, with MCW winning 3-0.
United South Central is seeded first and New Ulm Cathedral second.
Tuesday’s winners advance to the double-elimination portion of the tournament that begins Thursday, again at the site of higher-seeded team.
If MCW wins over MVL, the Mavericks would be at home on Thursday, hosting the winner of the game between sixth-seeded Nicollet and 11th-seeded Red Rock Central/Westbrook-Walnut Grove.
The remainder of the tournament will then be played at Caswell Park in North Mankato.
