NORTH MANKATO – Two Sleepy Eye St. Mary’s pitchers combined to hold Martin County West without a hit as the Knights defeated the Mavericks 10-0 in five innings in an elimination game in the Section 2A softball tournament at Caswell Park.
Julia Helget went four innings, walking five and striking out nine, with Lacey Mathiowetz coming in for a 1-2-3 top of the fifth.
Maddie Carlson started and took the loss for the Mavericks, who finished their season with a 13-9 record.
New Ulm Cathedral defeated St. Mary’s 11-2 in an elimination game later Tuesday.
Tournament unbeaten Nicollet (20-2) faces New Ulm Cathedral (20-3) in the championship round at 5 p.m. Thursday at Caswell.
