It’s a busy week for the Martin County West volleyball team as the Mavericks are on the road four times. MCW plays Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday.
On Friday, both the football and cross country teams will be in action.
Volleyball
MCW’s volleyball team has a 4-1 record heading into its busy week.
The Mavericks start the week with a nonconference match vs. Gibbon-Fairfax-Winthrop Monday at Winthrop. The Thunderbirds are 1-1.
Martin County West, which is 1-0 in Valley Conference play, then has a pair of conference matches.
The Mavs are at Madelia Tuesday and face Martin Luther/Granada-Huntley-East Chain/Truman Thursday at Granada. Neither the Blackhawks nor the Jaguars have played a conference match.
MCW then closes out the week in Jackson at the Carolyn Hummel Invitational Saturday. Look for more information on that tourney later in the week.
Football
Martin County West’s football team is 2-0 on the young season and the Mavericks face another undefeated squad Friday.
The Mavericks will travel to New Ulm to face Minnesota Valley Lutheran at 8 p.m. at Johnson Field. New Cathedral and St. James Area will play at 4 p.m. at Johnson Field.
MCW has defeated St. James 40-7 and Sleepy Eye 14-6. MVL has topped Dawson-Boyd 34-28 and St. James 26-12.
Cross country
The MCW cross country teams will be in Mankato for a meet hosted by Mankato Loyola/Cleveland at the Good Counsel Campus Good Counsel Campus School Grounds.
Other teams scheduled to be on hand are Gibbon-Fairfax-Winthrop, Madelia, Norwood Young America, St. Peter, and Tri-City United.
