Here’s what’s on the schedule this week for Martin County West Spring sports teams. Of course it’s all subject to change.
Monday, March 31
Coach Lee Carlson’s Martin County West/Butterfield-Odin track and field teams will compete in the Tomahawk Valley Conference Indoor meet at Myers Field House at Minnesota State University in Mankato. Other teams are Gibbon-Fairfax-Winthrop, Granada-Huntley-East Chain, Truman/Martin Luther, Lester Paitrie, Loyola/Cleveland, River Valley, and Wabasso. Meet time is 5:30 p.m.
Thursday, April 3
The MCW girls and boys golf teams are the final Martin County West teams team to compete as coach Jordan Neduzak is scheduled to take his team to Oak View Golf Course for a 4:30 p.m. dual vs. Alden-Conger. The Knights could be playing for the second time as they’re slated to host JWP Tuesday.
The softball squad is the lone MCW team to have competed this spring, winning 15-3 in five innings at Janesville-Waldorf-Pemberton. Coach Darrell Ziegler’s is scheduled to have its home and Valley Conference opener in Welcome vs. Nicollet. The Raiders are scheduled at JWP Tuesday.
MCW’s baseball team, under the tutelage of coach Jon Traetow, is scheduled to start its season with a 4:30 p.m. game vs. Granada-Huntley-East Chain/Truman/Martin Luther at Fox Lake Area Sports Complex in Welcome. The Jaguars are slated to open at Sleepy Eye on Monday.to
MCW/BO’s track and field teams are scheduled to be at the John Wier Invitational in Mountain Lake. In addition to the Mavericks and host Wolverines, teams scheduled to compete are GHETML, Glencoe-Silver Lake (coached by former MLBO standout Josh Metcalf), Heron Lake-Okabena/Fulda, River Valley and Windom,
Friday, April 4
Martin County West’s baseball team is scheduled to play on back-to-back days as it has a nonconference game vs. Mountain Lake Area/Comfrey in Mountain Lake. That’s the opener for the Wolverines.
