Here’s a look at what’s ahead this week for Martin County West sports teams.
Monday, Dec. 2 schedule
The Martin County West boys basketball team starts its season in Wells with a nonconference game vs. United South Central.
It’s also the opener for the Rebels.
Tuesday, Dec. 3
It doesn’t happen often, but both Martin County West basketball teams play at home on Tuesday.
The boys will play for a second straight night, hosting Granada-Huntley-East Chain/Truman/Martin Luther in Sherburn. It will be the opener for the Jaguars.
The unbeaten MCW girls basketball team will put its 3-0 record on the court in Trimont vs. Alden-Conger/Glenville-Emmons (0-2) at Martin County West.
Thursday, Dec. 5
MCW’s boys basketball team continues a busy start to its season as it hosts St. Clair in Sherburn. That will be the opener for the Cyclones.
The MCW girls head to Mankato to play Loyola. The Crusaders (1-1) host Cleveland Monday.
The Martin County Area gymnastics team also competes for the first time this season by hosting a dual vs. Jackson County Central at Live Fit Sports & Wellness Center in Fairmont. Meet time is 6 p.m.
Also Thursday, the Martin County wrestling team has its first meet as the Red Bulls face Maple River/United South Central in a dual in Wells.
Saturday, Dec. 7
The Red Bull wrestlers are back in action as they go to Blue Earth for the nine-team Dick Maher Invitational.
Besides Martin County and the host Buccaneers, teams scheduled to compete are La Crescent-Hokah, Maple River/United South Central, Tri-City United, Triton, Waseca, Waterville-Elysian-Morristown/Janesville-Waldorf-Pemberton and Worthington.
