Martin County West’s volleyball team has another busy week, playing three times including a Saturday tournament.
MCW’s cross country and football teams each have one event on their respective schedules.
Tuesday, Sept. 27
The MCW volleyball team starts its week by hosting Nicollet in a Valley Conference match in Trimont.
The Mavericks are 5-9 overall and 2-2 in conference play, while the Raiders are 2-9 and 1-3.
Also Tuesday, the MCW cross country teams will both compete in the Murray County Central/Fulda Warriors Invitational at Slayton Country Club.
The schedule calls for the 7th- and 8th-grade boys and girls to run 1600 meters together at 4:30 p.m., varsity girls (5000 meters) at 4:45, varsity boys (5000 meters) at 5:05 and JV boys and girls (5000 meters) together at 5:20.
In addition to the Mavericks and host Warriors, teams scheduled to compete are Adrian/Ellsworth, Jackson County Central, Mountain Lake Area/Comfrey, Pipestone, Springfield/Cedar Mountain, Tracy-Milroy-Balaton, Worthington, and Southwest Minnesota Christian/Edgerton.
Thursday, Sept. 29
The Martin County West volleyball team goes on the road for a conference match Thursday, traveling to St. Clair.
The Cyclones are 2-8 overall and have a 1-1 conference record heading into a Tuesday match at Madelia.
Friday, Sept. 30
MCW’s football team will face New Ulm Cathedral in a 7 p.m. game at Johnson Field in New Ulm.
The Mavericks are 4-0 after their 14-7 home win over Adrian/Ellsworth. The Greyhounds are 1-3 after a 28-15 loss at Sleepy Eye.
Saturday, Oct. 1
Martin County West’s volleyball team goes to Mapleton for the Maple River tournament.
In addition to the Mavericks and host Eagles, teams scheduled to play are Austin, Blooming Prairie, Cedar Mountain, Fairmont, Martin Luther/Granada-Huntley-East Chain/Truman, Redwood Valley, Sibley East, St. Charles, and St. Peter.
