Five girls from Jackson were members of the Minnesota Misfits 16U softball team that placed fourth in the Silver Bracket at last weekend’s North American Fastpitch Association Northern Nationals in Champlin and Coon Rapids.
The Misfits started the tournament by going 1-2 in pool play.
They defeated Minnesota Elite 13-4 before losing a pair of one-run games, losing to New Berlin Magic and to SYCOS 4-3.
In the Silver Division, Minnesota Misfits won their first three games.
They won over Midwest Speed 11-0, Minnesota Stealth 6-2 and Minnesota Stars 06 by an 8-3 margin.
In the semifinals, Wisco Warriors topped the Misfits 8-5 and then in the third-place game, the Woodbury Royals defeated the Misfits 4-2.
The Misfits qualified for the Northern Nationals by placing second behind Marshall 18U at the USA state tournament the previous weekend.
Also, the Misfits won the Fairmont Cardinal Power tournament earlier in July.
The team’s overall record for the summer was 37-19-1.
