Carsen Musser recorded another win in goal for the U.S. National Under-18 hockey team Saturday night as they were 4-3 overtime winners over the Dubuque Fighting Saints of the United States Hockey League at USA Hockey Arena in Plymouth, Mich.
The Sherburn native was called to make 23 saves on the 26 shots he faced.
According to the NTDP website, Musser made his best save of the night five minutes into the middle frame.
Dubuque forward Riley Stuart won a puck race and drove the center lane in alone. He tried to beat Musser over the glove, but the 6-foot-4 netminder flashed the leather to keep the game even.
Musser has played in 18 games for the U18s and has an 11-4 record. He’s played 931 minutes and 39 seconds and has a save percentage of .898 and a goals-against average of 2.96.
Musser is ranked fifth on the list of North American goalies on the list of eligible players on the National Hockey League Central Scouting's Midseason rankings ahead of the 2023 NHL Entry Draft. The draft will be held June 28-29 in Nashville.
Overall, the U18s have a 30-9 record. Of those wins, 14 have come over NCAA opponents, with 13 vs. Division I teams. Both are single-season program records.
The NTDP hosts the USHL’s Madison Capitals Thursday before traveling to Finland for the Five Nations Tournament that starts on Feb. 7.
