Two recent Jackson County Central graduates and an incoming senior competed for Minnesota/USA Wrestling at the Greco Roman National Duals in Tulsa.
Caleb Vancura wrestled for Minnesota Blue, while Logan Butzon and Nolan Ambrose competed for Minnesota Red. Also, JCC Coach Nate Hanson coached on the Red team.
Vancura wrestled at 285 pounds for Minnesota Blue, which won the Bronze/Copper Bracket and placed ninth overall.
Vancura had a 3-1 record in pool matches, winning twice by technical fall and once by decision. He then went 4-0 in the Bronze/Copper Bracket, winning twice by fall and twice by technical fall to finish the tournament with a 7-1 record.
The team went 7-1 in duals.
Ambrose competed at 138 pounds and went 6-0, going 3-0 both in Pool matches and the Red/Blue Bracket. He won two matches by fall, two by forfeit and one each by technical fall and decision.
Butzon wrestled at 160 pounds and went 3-1 overall, 1-1 in the pool and 2-0 in the bracket. He won twice by technical fall and once by decision.
Vancura recently graduated and will attend Augsburg University and wrestle for the Auggies. Butzon also graduated and will wrestle at Augustana University.
Ambrose will be a senior at Jackson County Central and has committed to wrestle at Augustana.
The Freestyle Duals started today (Friday) in Tulsa.
