Jackson County Central graduate Brody Anderson is now an assistant coach with the Mayville State men’s basketball program. He began his duties with the Comets on Aug. 1.
He spent the last two seasons as a graduate assistant at Peru State College in Peru, Neb.
Anderson earned his Master's of Science in Organizational Management with an emphasis in Sports and Recreation from Wayne State College.
While at Peru State, Anderson helped the Bobcats to two historic campaigns including tying the second most wins in school history and winning a NAIA national tournament first-round game in 2023.
In 2023-2024 the Bobcats had a 20-12 record and won their last eight out of nine games including the Heart of America Conference tournament championship as a No. 5 seed.
While at Peru State, Anderson had coached seven all-Heart of America Conference players including three that have since graduated and went on to play professionally overseas.
"I am very excited to bring Coach Anderson to Mayville. He is a guy I got to know quite well the past few years," said Mayville head coach Brandon McGruder. "He has coached under two guys at Peru that I have a great deal of respect for. He has been to two national tournaments including a win against us in 2023 and he was a big reason why. Brody has hit the ground running and has done a tremendous job recruiting thus far.”
McGruder, who coached at Peru State prior to Anderson’s arrival, has coached the Comets for three seasons, compiling a 45-15 record.
Mayville State opens its season Oct. 26-27 with a pair of home games vs. Providence University College from Otterburne, Manitoba, Canada. The Comets are members of the North Star Athletic Association.
