NOTE: This was written Friday night and being posted Saturday morning. The MSHSL website now lists Le Sueur-Henderson as the No. 1 seed and JCC winning its quarterfinal game by forfeit. Everything else is the same. Under that scenario the only thing different would be that the Huskies would have a 9-0 record.
Jackson County Central is the number one seed for the Section 3AA football playoffs that open Tuesday.
The Huskies, 8-0, will have an unexpected first-round bye. There are eight teams in the section, but Le Sueur-Henderson (1-7) is not participating in the postseason.
LSH defeated Lake Crystal Wellcome Memorial 35-7 on Wednesday, which had given the Giants the No. 7 seed with a 14.3 QRF number and leave the Knights with the No. 8 seed with their 10-5 QRF.
But with Le Sueur-Henderson not playing, Lake Crystal Wellcome Memorial was moved up to the No. 7 seed and the Huskies were left without an opponent.
JCC advances to the semifinals on Saturday, Oct. 28 vs. the winner of Tuesday’s quarterfinal game between fourth-seed Minnesota Valley Lutheran and fifth-seeded Sibley East.
On the other side of the bracket for Tuesday’s quarterfinals, second-seeded Redwood Valley hosts seventh-seeded LCWM and third-seeded Pipestone is at home vs. sixth-seeded Windom.
Jackson County Central is the defending Section 3AA champion.
