Neither of Jackson County Central’s track and field teams were able to qualify for the state true team meet as a wildcard entry.
The Huskies were second in the boys team standings at Tuesday’s Section 2A meet in Wells and fourth in the girls standings. Only the section champion automatically qualified for the state meet.
Teams placing second through fifth in each of the eight sections had their results entered into a virtual meet, with the top four teams among those 32 teams grabbing qualifying for a 12-team state meet on Saturday, May 17 at Eden Prairie High School.
JCC was ninth among the 32 teams in the boys virtual meet with 1,245.5 points.
Big South Conference rival Redwood Valley grabbed the fourth spot in the state meet. The Cardinals were 174.5 points ahead of the Huskies. Luverne will also be at state as the Section 3A champions.
Sauk Centre, Howard Lake-Waverly-Winsted and Cotter/Hope finished 1-3 in the virtual boys meet.
The Jackson County Central girls were 16th in the team standings. Earning the top four places for the girls were Cotter/Hope, Holdingford, Lanesboro-Fillmore Central-Mabel-Canton and Howard Lake-Waverly-Winsted.
