BLUE EARTH – Jackson worked its way back into the game after trailing 7-0, but the Bulls would fall 8-6 to Blue Earth in non-league amateur baseball Friday night. All eight runs the Pirates scored were unearned.
Blue Earth scored one run in the first and three in both the third and fourth innings of the scheduled seven-inning game for a 7-0 lead. Jackson scored twice in both the fifth and sixth innings before the Pirates scored one in their half of the sixth.
The Bulls scored two runs in the seventh and left the bases loaded for the third time. They had also done so in the fourth and fifth innings. Jackson left a total of 15 runners stranded in the contest.
Evan Olesen was on base five times for Jackson with three hits and two walks. Alex Bretzman had two hits, while Shad Wacker and Chris Gumto each had a hit and walked twice. Nate Monson had a hit and walked.
Olesen pitched three innings, Pat Boggess two and Kevin Holm one.
Jackson, 3-2, hosts Fox Lake at 2 p.m. Sunday at Wacker Field.
