Several golfers with local connections played in the 99th Northwest Iowa golf tournament that concluded Sunday at Spencer Golf and Country Club.
Jackson native Brett Benson, now from Bird Island, placed second in the first flight with a three-under par 213 on rounds of 75, 70 and 68. Andrew Arndorfer (Livermore) won the flight with -4 212 (73-71-68).
Austin Reitz of Orange City, who is the Jackson Golf Club course record holder, tied for seventh in the second flight with +7 223 (75-72-76) and Jerrod Hansen (Lakefield) tie 11th at +10 226 (75-74-77). Winning that flight was Cole Grandfield (Omaha) with +1 217 (73-74-70).
Connor Anderson (Welcome) tied for fifth place in the sixth flight with a +15 231 (75-80-76).
In the senior flight, Don Wachal (Jackson) tied for 48th place out of 76 golfers with a 36-hole total of 178 (88-90).
The tournament champion was Jon Brown (Adel, Iowa) with -13 202 (63-68-71).
