Brett Benson will start the final day six shots off the lead at the Northwest Amateur golf tournament at Spencer Golf and Country Club.
The Jackson County Central graduate, who is Superintendent at Lake Crystal Wellcome Memorial, has a 36-hole total of six-under par 138 on rounds of 65 and 73. He is in 16th place.
Hunter Schmidt of Dunnell, who graduated from Martin County West this spring, is in 23rd place at three-under 141 on rounds of 70 and 71.
Schmidt will start his third round at 7:20 a.m. Sunday, with Benson scheduled for a 7:40 start.
Connor Anderson of Welcome is at plus-seven 151, going 79-79 in his first two rounds.
Austin Olson of Jackson finished with a 174 (80-94).
The tournament leader is Drew Spooner of Cherokee at 12-under 132 (63-69).
