Most weekends you would have received a number of newsletters as there have been quite a few things happening as the fall sports season gets in full swing.
This is not most weekends.
I’m taking a few minutes I don’t really have to send this disclaimer as to why you haven’t been inundated with stories.
After a late night celebrating next-door neighbor Clair Smith marrying Bradley Burmeister (of the Sherburn Burmeisters, not the Lakefield Burmeisters our son Brett married into although the reception was in Lakefield) we’re heading out soon for the 100th birthday celebration of Grandpa Doc Nelson (Maren’s father, Charles).
I did have plenty to keep me busy last night:
I have a lot of items to catch up with at some point so you can be looking for those,
I did talk with Alvaro Gonzalez Garcia, Roman Voss and Tom Schuller after the Jackson County Central football win at Mapleton Thursday and will put those together at some point.
Speaking of Schu, this tweet got a fair amount of attention Friday:
An update on the picture: Not long after that photo was taken (by my wife, who apparently didn’t have much work in front of her) the wagon came back the other direction. It’s possible someone had to go potty. We’ll try to investigate and get back to you on that.
There’s also been cross country and volleyball and we’ll have to find time to put together information on area graduates for what should be an action-packed edition of Lots O’ Stuff.
Anyway, we’ll be at the Truman Helgeson Civic Center in Lake Mills, Iowa for Doc’s 100th birthday this afternoon. We’ll be in Iowa so I should be able to keep an eye on the football game in Iowa City as Rudy Voss and South Dakota State takes on the big bad Hawkeyes.
Then, the whole fam damily will head to The Porch at the Larson Compound on Sixth Street in J-Town (we need to shorten the name) for what I’ve been reporting as grandson Porter’s eighth birthday party but upon further review is his seventh birthday party on Sunday.
After that I’ll become Kevin McCallister next week:
Maren, two sisters and two cousins will take off on a Girls Week to St. Louis so I’ll be left to fend for myself.
So please accept my humble apology for not getting more newsletters out. For now that has to take a backseat while we spend time with family and friends.
Enjoy your weekend. I’ll probably get a few tweets (@sportsdr44) out and maybe some Facebook posts and will be back on the grid in a day or two.
