Michelle Aggen has joined the volleyball staff at Iowa State University. Cyclones Coach Christy Johnson-Lynch made the announcement Thursday.
A Jackson County Central graduate, Aggen will serve as the director of operations, assisting with team travel, community outreach and facility and camp coordination at ISU.
She’s spent five years as an assistant coach at Augustana University.
With the Vikings, she fulfilled duties of recruiting, travel coordination, alumni relations, served as the club tournament director and the co-camp director. In addition, she was the lead in offensive and defensive scouting.
Last year, Aggen received the American Volleyball Coaches Association Thirty under 30 award, given to up-and-coming coaches.
"We are so excited for Michelle and this opportunity at Iowa State," Augustana Head Coach Jen Jacobs said. "The past five years she has truly developed into a well-rounded college volleyball professional; she just gets it. She's been a blessing for our program, and an integral part in our increased success. Personally, I will miss her deeply. Iowa State just got a great one."
The daughter of Todd and Teresa Van Epps, Michelle was a three-year starter and four-year letter winner at JCC. She played one season at Iowa Lakes Community College before transferring to Dakota Wesleyan University, where she was a three-year starter and captain for the Tigers.
She earned her bachelor's degree in business administration with an emphasis in marketing and a minor in coaching from Dakota Wesleyan and her master's in sports administration and leadership from Augustana.
Iowa State compiled a 20-12 record last season and advanced to the second round of the NCAA tournament.
The Cyclones handed national champion Texas (28-1) its lone loss of the season, beating the Longhorns 3-2 in Ames on Oct. 19 after trailing 2-1.
