MADISON, S.D. – Conner Tordsen, a senior with the Dakota State men’s track and field teas been named the first Outdoor Field Athlete of the Week by the North Star Athletic Association.
The Fairmont High School graduate was selected after setting a school record in discus throw at the NCAA Division II Wayne State Wildcat Open last weekend.
Tordsen produced the top NAIA (national) and NSAA discus throw of 171-11, to place first.
His throw also hit the NAIA 'A' automatic qualifying mark, where he will be making his second straight appearance in the national outdoor track & field meet in May in Gulf Shores, Ala.
Tordsen broke the previous discus throw school record mark of 165-11.
He also threw 144-6 to place 10th in the hammer throw for DSU. He added an effort of 45-3 in the shot put to finish 15th.
Conner is the son of Jamie and April Tordsen of Fairmont. He is a senior exercise science major at Dakota State University.
The Trojans head to Vermillion on Saturday for the University of South Dakota Early Bird meet.
