Katie Lange, who will graduate from Martin County West High School Sunday, is rated first in the country at 144 pounds in the final girls wrestling ratings of the season by USA Wrestling, FloWrestling and the National Wrestling Hall of Fame and Museum.
She had been seventh in the previous ratings.
Also, the committee that selects the rankings published its first Pound-For-Pound ranking, in which athletes from all weight classes are evaluated. That ranking evaluates all girls enrolled in grades 8-12 and athletes from all 50 states are eligible for selection.
Lange was 11th overall in those pound-for-pound ratings.
She won her first state girls championship this spring and was named winner of the Ms. Minnesota - Wrestling award as the top senior female wrestler in the state.
Lange will be attending Augsburg University and wrestling for the Auggies.
