Brandon Williamson will make his team-leading sixth start of the season this afternoon when he gets the start on the mound for the Louisville Bats in an International League game vs. the Iowa Cubs at Principal Park in Des Moines.
The Martin County West graduate started two home games vs. Charlotte last week including his best outing of the season to date on April 18 when he went six shutout innings, allowing three hits, walking three and striking out two in recording his first win of the season.
In his most recent outing on April 23, he went three and two-third innings, allowing six runs (four earned) on 10 hits, walking two and striking out three.
Williamson has a 1-2 record on the season with a 5.32 earned run average. He’s walked 14 and struck out 15.
Today marks his second career start vs. the I-Cubs, both in Des Moines.
On Aug. 11, 2022, the left-hander went five innings, giving up two runs on four hits, walking five and fanning six.
Williamson’s next start should also be close to home as after wrapping up the series with Iowa Sunday, the Bats have an off-day Monday before playing a six-game series in Omaha Tuesday-Sunday.
