Two teams that have opened their seasons with games against a good St. James Area team will match up Friday when the Jackson County Central softball team travels to Lake Crystal for a 4:30 p.m. nonconference game vs. Lake Crystal Wellcome Memorial.
The Huskies dropped a pair of games to the Saints to open their season, 6-1 in St. James on Monday and 3-1 in Jackson on Tuesday. The Knights are opening their season at St. James today (Thursday).
JCC had just one hit in the Monday game, a fifth-inning bunt single by Lauren Johnson.
Hadley Wachal pitched the first five and one-third innings and took the loss for the Huskies, striking out eight batters. Brooklyn Stenzel recorded the final two outs.
In the Tuesday game, Mady Wachal had an RBI double and was the losing pitcher as she went the distance, giving up nine hits and striking out 10.
Also getting hits for Jackson County Central were Brittany Tufvesson, Bailey Finck and Renae Vancura.
After the game vs. LCWM, JCC is scheduled to host Martin County West at 5:30 p.m. Monday.
