LUVERNE – Jackson County Central’s track and field teams opened their outdoor season buy finishing third in both the girls and boys divisions of the Luverne Invitational Monday.
In the girls meet, Southwest Minnesota Christian/Edgerton was first with 97 points, Luverne was second with 95 and JCC totaled 72 points.
Worthington was the boys winner with 102.5 points, followed by SWMC/E (83) and the Huskies (56.5).
The JCC girls had four first-place finishes, with Peyton Hanson recording three firsts and Elsa Landherr two.
Hanson won the 300-meter hurdles (51.11) and pole vault, with Landherr placing first in the 400 meters (1:06.6).
They also ran two of the legs on the Huskies’ winning 4x400-meter relay team (4:41.72). Brylee Anderson and Erica Hanson ran the other two legs.
Also for JCC, Payten Benda was second in the 100-meter hurdles (18.09), Elese Paplow third in the 1600 meters (6:13.96) and Elsa Landherr third in the triple jump (31-7 ½).
Jackson County Central’s boys had two of the top finishers in the 3200 meters as Andrew Boyum was first (10:27.24) and Evan Paplow third (10:32.41). Paplow was also second in the 1600 meters (4:50.5).
Caleb Vancura won the shot put (43-4 ½) and was second in the discus (128-9).
The Huskies’ 4x800 team of Dezmynd Tupper, Boyum, Kie Anderson and EJ Peterson finished second (9:48.42).
Quinn Landherr had a pair of third-place finishes, in the 400 meters (57.23) and pole vault (10-6).
JCC is scheduled to compete in the Mountain Lake Insurance Services Invitational Thursday.
