BLUE EARTH – Jackson County Central finished second in both the boys and girls divisions at a track and field triangular Tuesday at Wilson Field.
Fairmont won both divisions.
The Cardinals won the boys meet with Fairmont 81 points, the Huskies had 34 points and the host Buccaneers had 16 points.
For the girls, Fairmont was first with 78 points, with JCC second (31) and BEA third (11). Not all of the events were concluded due to the weather.
Caleb Vancura and Andrew Boyum each had a pair of first-place finishes in the boys meet for Jackson County Central.
Vancura won the shot put with a personal record of 47-0 that is also the sixth-best effort in school history. He won the discus with a throw of 130-4.
Boyum won the 1600 meters in 4:53.7 and ran the first leg of JCC’s winning 4x800-meter relay team.
Running the others legs were Brigan McCarthy, Kie Anderson and Evan Paplow for a time of 9:17.1.
Jackson County Central’s girls had two firsts.
Peyton Hanson won the 300-meter hurdles (48.9) and Maci Farmer won the long jump (15-2).’
The Huskies are scheduled to travel to Lake Crystal for a meet Tuesday.
