Add another hard-earned and well-deserved honor for recent Martin County West graduate Katie Lange.
On Saturday, she won the gold medal at 65 kg at the Junior Pan American Games in Oaxtepec, Mexico.
Lange won both of her matches in the tournament by fall.
She won over Karime Martinez Teran (Mexico) in 1:11 and Aylah Mayali (Canada) in :49.
The U.S. won the team title at the Games with five champions and 176 points. Mexico was second with 147 points and Cuba was third with 101 points.
Lange was rated first in the U.S. at 144 pounds in the final girls wrestling ratings this season by USA Wrestling, FloWrestling and the National Wrestling Hall of Fame and Museum.
She won the state girls championship this spring and was named winner of the Ms. Minnesota - Wrestling award as the top senior female wrestler in the state.
Lange will be attending Augsburg University and wrestle for the Auggies.
