Eighth-grader Cora Pauling will represent Jackson County Central at the state cross country meet as a result of her 13th-place finish at Thursday’s Section 3A meet.
Pauling had a time of 20:48.6 to place 13th out of 111 finishers on the 5K layout at Madison Golf Course. She will compete in the state meet Saturday, Nov. 4 at University of Minnesota Les Bolstad Golf Course in St. Paul.
Luverne’s Jenna DeBates, the top-ranked runner in the state, was the individual champion in 18:47.3.
Redwood Valley and Canby/Miunneota are the teams advancing. The Cardinals were first with 36 points and the Lancers second with 64. The Huskies were sixth out of 18 complete teams with 177 points.
In the boys meet, Evan Paplow led JCC as he was 18th of 131 finishers in 17:50.6.
Windom was the team champion with 59 points, with Redwood Valley second with 77.
Will Ahrens of Redwood Valley, who is also first in the state individual rankings, was the individual winner in 16:15.4.
