Jackson County Central will have five wrestlers in the quarterfinals of the state Class 1A wrestling tournament Friday evening at Xcel Energy Center in St. Paul. Each won a first-round match earlier in the day.
Nolan Ambrose started his bid for a fourth state title against a wrestle he saw in Thursday’s team competition and will see another in the quarterfinals.
Ambrose pinned Talan Osborne of Lake Crystal-Wellcome Memorial Area in 1:06 in their first-round match at 145 pounds. Ambrose also won by fall when they wrestled at 152 pounds in the team tournament.
In the quarterfinals Ambrose wrestles Tanner Viessman of Belgrade-Brooten-Elrosa (39-3). Ambrose won by major decision when they met at 152 in Thursday’s team tourney.
The quarterfinals will start at 4 p.m.
