ST. PAUL – For the third straight week and seventh time overall this season, Hanna Geistfeld has been named the women’s basketball Player of the Week in the Upper Midwest Athletic Conference.
It’s the 13th time in her career she’s received the honor and the eighth honor for Bethany Lutheran College this season, setting a school record.
The 6-foot senior averaged 35.0 points and 18.5 rebounds and 3.5 assists per game in two UMAC road win. She shot 63 % from the field and was 18-of-21 from the free throw line.
On Friday at Minnesota-Morris she set BLC career records in games played and points scored as well as the single-game scoring record with 38 points.
Then on Saturday at Crown College Geistfeld became the first UMAC player in the NCAA Division III era to eclipse 2,000 career points.
For the season Geistfeld is first in the country in total rebounds (222), tied for second in double doubles (17) and third in points per game (25.3).
Bethany is 11-6 overall and lead the UMAC with a 6-0 record. North Central and Northwestern are tied for second with 4-1 marks. The Vikings host North Central Tuesday.
