Jackson County Central senior Mason Pohlman has signed a letter of intent to attend Ridgewater College and play baseball for the Warriors. Ridgewater is a member of the Minnesota College Athletic Conference.
"I really liked the school so I thought I'd give it a shot," Pohlman said. "I went there on a visit and they sparked my interest and here we are now, signing"
Pohlman is the starting catcher for the Huskies this spring. He didn't play high school baseball as a junior as the season was canceled due to the pandemic.
The recruiting process was also altered. Ridgewater coaches weren't able to see him play in person last year, relying on video highlights.
"It was very restricted due to Covid," Pohlman said. "I did get to meet with the head coach (Tyler Hebrink) and see some of the facilities."
He said he plans to take his generals with the Willmar school and transfer after that.
"I want to use it as a stepping stone and move on after that," he said. As far as what position he'd play with the Warriors, Pohlman said "I want to play catcher, but I'm open to anything that will happen."
