Fifth-seeded Jackson Post 130 opened the Sub Sub B American Legion baseball playoffs with a 3-1 win over fourth-seeded Heron Lake Thursday evening in Wabasso.
The win moves Jackson into the double-elimination phase of the tournament where it plays top-seeded and defending state Division II champion Sleepy Eye at noon Friday, also in Wabasso.
With a win, Post 130 plays again at 4 p.m. Friday. A loss sends Jackson to an 11 a.m. game Saturday.
Talan Holm went all seven innings in the win over Heron Lake, allowing one unearned run on three hits and striking out eight.
Gage Johnson had an RBI single, and Carson Doescher brought in a run with a sacrifice fly. Jace Jorgenson had two hits.
