Hobie Hedquist and the Alberni Valley Bulldogs have won the first two games of their best-of-seven British Columbia Hockey League Coastal Conference quarterfinal playoff series.
On Saturday, the Heron Lake native was named the Number One Star as he posted his second career playoff shutout as the Bulldogs blanked the Victoria Grizzlies 4-0.
Alberni Valley won Game 1 7-5 Friday at the Alberni Valley Multiplex.
After allowing five goals in the first game, the Bulldogs doubled down in front of Hedquist on Saturday blocking 14 Grizzlies shots. Hedquist was called on for 32 saves, six in the first period, 16 in the second and 10 in the third.
Hedquist made 28 saves in Game 1, including 13 in the third period.
The series shifts to Colwood for Game 3 and 4 on Tuesday and Wednesday. If Game 5 is necessary, it would be at Alberni Valley Friday.
