DUNCAN, B.C. – Heron Lake native Hobie Hedquist was the winning goaltender in each game games as the Alberni Valley Bulldogs swept the Cowichan Valley Capitals in four games in the opening round of the British Columbia Hockey League’s Coastal Conference Playoffs.
The top-seeded Bulldogs opened the series with a pair of home games with Hedquist making 21 saves in a 5-3 win and 11 saves in a 3-1 victory.
He then had 21 stops in a 3-2 Game 3 win on the road over the eighth-seeded and closed out the series with 20 saves in a 7-2 triumph on Wednesday.
Alberni Valley advances to the conference semifinals against an opponent to be determined on Friday, April 15. Teams are reseeded after the first round.
