Jackson County Central has three players and Martin County West one (at two positions) on preseason all-state football teams named by the website Minnesota Prep Redzone.
JCC sophomore quarterback Roman Voss is a first team choice at quarterback in Class 2A. An injury will keep Voss out of the Huskies lineup on offense for several weeks, but he may play on defense at safety.
Three players that JCC will see during the season were named preseason all-state.
Minnesota Valley Lutheran defensive back Kyler Flunker was a first team choice; Blue Earth Area offensive lineman Noah Dahl was named to the second team; and Pipestone kicker Nohel Vivanco was honored as a specialist.
Also, Windom had two players listed with Kevin Bleess a second team wide receiver and Tucker Renquist a third team defensive back. The Huskies and Eagles will not play during the regular season.
The Class 2A preseason Player of the Year is Hunter Kallstrom of Kerkhoven-Murdock-Sunburg, who is listed as an athlete. He is committed to Wyoming.
Aitkin running back Jacob Williams is the Preseason Offensive Player of the Year and Chatfield defensive lineman Ethan Cole is the Preseason Defensive Player of the Year.
In Class 1A, Martin County West senior Riley Allen is a two-way selection on the preseason all-state team. He is a third team choice on the offensive line and he's also a third team choice on the defensive line.
The Mavericks will see a number of preseason all-state players including five from Springfield.
Quarterback Jakob Nachreiner is the Class 1A Offensive Player of the Year and linebacker Ashton Toll is the Defensive Player of the Year. Toll was also a first team choice at wide receiver.
Linebacker; Carter Olson is a first team selection at wide receiver; Brayden Strum is a first team choice at defensive back and third team choice at wide receiver; and Sam Rummel is a second team linebacker.
Sleepy Eye United has two players as Talan Helget is first team at both tight end and defensive line; and Evan Thompson first team on the offensive line.
Two other teams that MCW plays will have one player who is all-state at two positions.
Tracy- Milroy-Balaton’s Brian Erbes is a second team choice on both the offensive and defensive lines; and Russell-Tyler-Ruthton’s Drew Werkman is a second team choice at defensive line and third team choice at tight end.
Also, Canby’s Drew Houseman received recognition as a kick returner.
Brycen Lotz of Braham is the 1A Preseason Player of the Year.
Jackson County Central opens its season at home Friday vs. Lake Crystal Wellcome Memorial while Martin County West opens at Canby the same night.
