After a rough outing in his last game, Brandon Williamson recorded a quality start Friday although he was the losing pitcher for the Louisville Bats in a 6-2 loss to the Omaha Storm Chasers in an International League game at Werner Field in Papillion, Neb.
Williamson equaled a season high by going six innings for Louisville, the Triple-A affiliate of the Cincinnati Reds. Omaha, an affiliate of the Kansas City Royals, had a 3-1 lead when the southpaw left the game.
The Martin County West graduate allowed three runs on three hits, walked one and had a season-high seven strikeouts. He threw 89 pitches, 58 for strikes. Williamson had a stretch where he retired nine consecutive batters.
After playing Omaha through Sunday, Louisville returns home Tuesday to start a six-game series vs. the Columbus Clippers, the affiliate of the Cleveland Guardians.
