Racing season at Jackson Motorplex is just a few days away.
The first of 10 nights of competition this year is scheduled for Tuesday with the $5,000-to-win IMCA Stock Car Challenge highlighting Altenburg Construction Night.
IMCA Hobby Stocks will also be part of the program featuring a special $750-to-win A Main.
The event is part of a great week for IMCA Stock Cars drivers, who can also compete for $5,000 to win the previous night at Clay County Fair Speedway in Spencer.
Three nights later Jackson Motorplex will host the Tweeter Contracting 360 Challenge presented by GRP Motorsports.
Two sprint car classes are on the program with the Gunderson Racing Inc. Midwest Sprint Touring Series and the QualityFreightRate.com Midwest Power Series 360 winged sprint cars competing for a $3,000 top prize on Friday, May 26.
The Wyffels Hybrids RaceSaver Sprint Car Series will also compete that night.
Huset’s to try again
Huset’s Speedway will try again Sunday to open its season after getting weathered out last week.
On the schedule are the Cressman Sanitation 410 Outlaw Sprint Cars, the Wyffels Hybrids RaceSaver Sprint Car Series and the Nordstrom’s Automotive Late Model Street Stocks.
Defending track champions are:
410 sprints: Brooke Tatnell, San Souci, NSW, Australia
Racesaver sprints: Jacob Hughes, Hartford, S.D.
Street stocks: Zach Olivier, Sioux Falls
All three divisions are expected to field a stout corps of drivers with an enhanced weekly purse in place as well as a strong points fund up for grabs in the 410 class. The top 15 in points who are eligible will receive points fund money, led by the winner’s share of $12,000.
Additionally, each 410 main event will pay $5,000 to win this season.
Gravel earns podium, top 10
Big Game Motorsports left Pennsylvania with a pair of top-six results last week as the World of Outlaws NOS Energy Drink Sprint Car Series competed with the vaunted Pennsylvania Posse.
On Wednesday, May 10 at Lincoln Speedway in Abbottstown at the Gettysburg Clash, Gravel guided the No. 2 sprint car to a third-place finish for his 15th top five of the season. It marked his 200th career podium with the World of Outlaws.
Two nights later at Williams Grove Speedway he placed sixth.
Big Game Motorsports will be in Ohio this weekend to race on Friday at Attica Raceway Park and then at Sharon Speedway in Hartford on Saturday.
Gravel was victorious during World of Outlaws shows at Attica Raceway Park in 2017 and 2021. He is seeking his first series win at Sharon Speedway.
Gravel is second in the series point standings, 36 points behind Brad Sweet.

Fairmont Raceway
Fairmont Raceway will have its second night of racing this season on Friday and it will be Legends Night.
Drivers from the past will be on hand and current drivers will be sponsoring their car to a retired driver for an eight-lap feature.
The regular classes will run with C&B Operations Modifieds, State Bank of Fairmont Stock Cars, Nutrien Ag B-Mods, Finke Excavating Hobby Stocks and Extreme Powdercoating Tuners.
MSTS
The Midwest Sprint Touring Series started its season last Saturday at Off Road Speedway in Norfolk, Neb.
Tim Estenson (Fargo) won the 25-lap A feature with Cody Ledger (Omaha) second and Jason Martin (Liberal, Kan.) third.
The next MSTS event is Friday, May 26 at Jackson Motorplex.
