An unfavorable forecast for next week has caused Fairmont Raceway to cancel the season-opening Frost Buster event that had been scheduled for Friday, April 4.
Track officials announced on Facebook this week that the extended weather forecast left them with no choice but to cancel the event. They said they don't want to risk turning on the water to the bathrooms and filling water trucks at the fairgrounds while overnight lows are below freezing.
The first race of the season is now scheduled for Friday, May 2 for the United States Racing Association featuring the USRA Iron Man Stock Cars.
Here’s the season schedule at Fairmont Raceway:

Gravel sweeps weekend
David Gravel guided Big Game Motorsports to a sweep of the Federated Auto Parts Texas Two-Step hosted by Cotton Bowl Speedway in Paige, Tex. last weekend.
He set quick time during qualifying both nights – including establishing a new track record on Saturday – en route to his fourth and fifth feature victories of the season with the World of Outlaws NOS Energy Drink Sprint Car Series.
“These guys continue to give me great race cars,” he said in a post-race interview on DIRTVision. “We’re qualifying amazing and racing just as good. We were just patient there. We kind of figured they were all going to be pretty aggressive and kind of let the race come to us and it worked out.”
Gravel has built an 82-point lead in the World of Outlaws championship standings.
Events this weekend are the Sooner State Showdown Friday at Lawton Speedway in Lawton, Okla., and the Wichita Sprint Car Showdown Saturday at 81 Speedway in Park City, Kan.
