An expansion project at Huset’s Speedway in Brandon is underway and will be finished this fall.
A new building that will house a race shop, showroom and offices is being built on the hill at Huset’s.
“Just having everything on the same complex, with the race shop, the offices, and everything right here in close proximity,” Huset’s Speedway General Manager Doug Johnson told KELO TV.
Johnson says staff won’t move in until after the season, but David Gravel and the Big Game Motorsports crew are making themselves at home.
“The race team, they’ve been working out of here before they headed east here a week or so ago, and they’ve got most of their stuff ready to go,” he said.
The lobby will eventually be open to the public.
“We want to make sure everything’s finished before we let anybody else in here and kind of give tours,” Johnson said.
“Where we’re standing here is obviously a showroom, we’ve got two show cars in here and a lot of the trophies from Tod’s (Quiring) wins and stuff over the years will be displayed in here over time as well,” Johnson said.
This week Huset’s is hosting four straight nights of racing as the 14th annual Silver Dollar Nationals presented by MyRacePass run Wednesday through Saturday.
The Bargain Barn Tire Center Night kicks off the action on Wednesday and features the $6,000-to-win Ben Nothdurft Memorial for the RepairableVehicles.com Tri-State Late Models as well as the IMCA Dirt Crown Stock Cars in a $3,000-to-win feature.
The Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series visits the following three nights with $10,000-to-win preliminary nights on Thursday and Friday setting up a $53,000-to-win main event on Saturday. The Tri-State Late Models will also compete on Thursday with the Malvern Bank SLMR Series racing for the $5,053 top prize on Friday and Saturday.
