David Gravel drove the Big Game Motorsports No. 2 to a second-place finish on “Hard Knox Night” Friday at the 62nd NOS Energy Drink Knoxville Nationals to get locked into Saturday night’s A Main.
Gravel, from Watertown, Conn., won his heat race earlier in the evening. He’ll start 22nd in the finale.
Skylar Prochaska (Lakefield) won Friday’s C Main and then was 20th in the B. He had placed 10th in his heat. Prochaska will start third in Saturday’s E Main.
Matt Wasmund (Jackson) placed 13th in his heat Friday and was also 13th in the C Main. He’s 17th in the E Main to start Saturday.
Brooke Tatnell (San Souci, NSW, Australia) was sixth in his heat race in the DeWall Racing No. 16 Friday. He was 19th in Friday’s B Main. Tatnell starts first in Saturday’s E Main.

Fairmont Raceway
Fairmont Raceway held the first of three consecutive Friday night events last night.
Derek Green (Granada) continued his domination of the State Bank of Fairmont Stock Cars class as he won eighth feature in nine tries.
Luke Sathoff (Jackson) was second and Chance Larson (Dunnell) third.
Green and Justin DeBoer (Granada) were heat winners.
In the Nutrien Ag B-Mods, Jared Boumeester (Waseca) won his fifth feature of the year, with Taylor Ausrud (Hayfield) second and James Richert (Comfrey) third.
Heat winners were Ausrud and Jayden Oskerson (Fairmont).
Parker Anderson (Welcome) won the Finke Excavating Hobby Stocks feature, his third win of the season, tied for the most in that class.
Scott Dobel (Manly) was second and Nick Brady (Sioux Falls) third.
Dobel and Gavin Bussinger (Granada) won the heat races.
Brandon Davis (Hayfield) ran in the C&B Operations Modifieds class in Fairmont for the second time thjs season and won his second feature.
Dustin Wiederhoeft (Fairmont) was second and Josh Ruby (Lakota) third.
Ruby won the lone heat race.
Slade Fitzgerald (Dunnell) won the Extreme Powdercoating Tuners feature and also won the heat race. Dale Gatton (Fairmont) was second in the feature, with Alan Lahr (Nicollet) third.
On Friday, Aug. 18, the track will host the Martin County Fair race; and on Friday, Aug. 25 it’s the Tri-State Late Models, vintage cars, and season championship.
The season concludes Thursday, Sept. 14 with the Bacontown Showdown.
