Friday was Back to School Night at Fairmont Raceway. Backpacks were presented to area students attending the races.
Tyler Crimmins (Fort Dodge) won the 10-lap USRA Tuners feature, with Jerry Coopman (Mankato) second and Dale Gatton (Fairmont) third. Coopman and Brandon Hartmann (Fairmont) were heat winners.
Parker Anderson (Welcome) claimed the top spot in the 12-lap Finke Excavating Hobby Stocks feature. Jeremy Crimmins (Fort Dodge) was second after winning the heat race. Gavin Bussinger (Granada) was third.
Winning the 15-lap Nutrien Ag B-Mods feature was Ty Griffith (Webster City), with Jared Boumeester (Waseca) and Jayden Oskerson (Fairmont) third. Boumeester and Oskerson won the heat races.
Luke Sathoff (Jackson) was winner of the 15-lap State Bank of Fairmont Stock Cars feature, followed by Levi Vander Weide (Sioux Falls) and Chance Larson (Dunnell). Sathoff won the lone heat race.
Don Gerritsen Jr. (Rock Rapids) was first in the 15-lap USRA Modifieds feature, with Josh Ruby (Lakota) second and Derek Green (Derek Green) third. Lyle Sathoff (Sherburn) was the heat winner.
Next on the schedule at Fairmont is the Dwaine Hanson Memorial next Friday. All five classes will be racing that night.
The modified feature will pay $201 to start and $2,001 to win. The winner will also take home the last trophy Hanson won.
Hanson raced for more than 50 years and won the modified title at the Jackson Nationals in 1995.
He last raced in August of 2023 and passed away in October.
Knoxville 360 Nationals
Skylar Prochaska of Lakefield finished 12th in the 20-lap A Main Friday on the second night of the Xtream Powered by Mediacom 360 Knoxville Nationals. He was seventh in time trials and fourth in his heat.
Prochaska will start 20th in Saturday night’s A Main.
Kaleb Johnson of Sioux Falls will start eighth. On the front row will be Emerson Axsom of Franklin Ind. and Tyler Courtney of Indianapolis.
Johnson led flag to flag on the opening night Thursday as he earned his first win aboard the DGRD No. 6, giving that team their first victory at Knoxville as well.
