Carson Macedo and Brandon Bosma were winners Friday night on the second night of the 46th annual FENDT Jackson Nationals at Jackson Motorplex.
Sitting on the front row of the 30-lap A Feature was the last four Jackson Nationals champions was Logan Schuchart, who won in 2020 and 2021, was on the pole with two-time defending champion Macedo on the outside.
Macedo quickly powered into the top spot at the start and led the distance of the 30-lap feature, which was only slowed one time for a caution with 10 laps remaining.
Macedo has won three of the last five World of Outlaws A Mains at Jackson Motorplex. The performance on Friday marked his fourth career series triumph at the track.
Haudenschild’s runner-up result was his 17th top five of the season with the World of Outlaws.
David Gravel was third as he increased his lead in the World of Outlaws championship standings.
Aaron Reutzel was fourth and Schuchart rounded out the top five.
Gravel set quick time during qualifying before the heat races were won by Dusty Zomer, Macedo, Haudenschild and Bill Balog. Schuchart drove to the dash victory and Kelby Watt was the Last Chance Showdown winner.
Bosma is the Jackson Nationals champion as he leding the final 23 laps of the 25-lap $2,500-to-win Wyffels Hybrids RaceSaver Sprint Car Series presented by Heser Auto & Detailing main event.
“It’s pretty awesome,” he said. “This means a lot. This is the biggest win in my career. Knowing everybody who’s won this race and to put my name in the history books is pretty awesome.”
Lee Goos Jr. was second, with Monty Ferriera, Matt Johnson and Jacob Peterson rounding out the top five.
Brandon Halverson of Jackson was 17th. Mel Halverson was sixth in the first of two B features.
The Jackson Nationals finale is Saturday with a $25,000-to-win World of Outlaws program as well as a $5,000-to-win Gunderson Racing Inc. Midwest Sprint Touring Series 360 Sprint Cars feature.
Fairmont Raceway
Friday was the next-to-last night of racing at Fairmont Raceway for the season as the track hosted the Martin County Fair Race.
Tyler Crimmins (Fort Dodge) was the winner of the eight-lap USRA Tuners feature with Slade Fitzgerald (Dunnell) second and Bryson Hatfield (Fairmont) third. Hatfield was the heat winner.
Taking the top spot in the 12-lap Finke Excavating Hobby Stocks feature was Dustin Gulbrandson (Sioux Falls). Parker Anderson (Welcome) was second and Jeremy Wagner (Graettinger) third. Wagner and points leader Gavin Bussinger (Granada) won the heat races.
Taylor Ausrud (Hayfield) won the 15-lap Nutrien Ag B-Mods feature, followed by points leader Ty Griffith (Webster City) and Jared Boumeester (Waseca). Heat winners were Boumeester and Griffith.
Dustin Larson (Rushmore) won the 15-lap State Bank of Fairmont Stock Cars feature. Jason Minnehan (Churdan, Iowa) was second and points leader Chance Larson (Dunnell) third.
Larson and Minnehan won the heat races.
Claiming first in the 15-lap USRA Modified feature was Brandon Davis (Hayfield). Don Gerritsen Jr. (Rock Rapids) and Lyle Sathoff (Sherburn) were heat winners. Sathoff and Davis were heat winners.
Next Friday will have the Tri State Late Models on hand and it will be Season Championship Night.
