Top five streak stopped
Big Game Motorsports driver David Gravel recorded his 20th consecutive top-five finish on the World of Outlaws NOS Energy Drink Sprint Car Series Friday at I-55 Federated Auto Parts Raceway Park in Pevely, Mo. That streak ended the next night with a sixth-place finish at the same track.
“That’s a cool accomplishment,” he said. “I wish we could have kept it going, but sometimes it’s not in the cards. If we don’t finish in the top five, we want to finish sixth and that’s what we did on Saturday.”
Gravel had finished in the top five at the first 14 races on this season’s schedule after doing so at the last six shows of 2024.
However, he continues to lead the World of Outlaws championship standings. Gravel leads Carson Macedo by 64 points and Logan Schuchart by 74.
Next on the WoO schedule is the Premier Chevy Dealers Clash Friday and Saturday at Knoxville Raceway.
“We always go in there excited to race at Knoxville,” Gravel said. “It’s a place we’re confident at. I like the big car counts and tough competition.”
